What is ShopBack PayLater?
ShopBack PayLater is a buy now pay later (BNPL) payment option that allows you to pay for your purchase over 3 monthly instalments. No interest, no hidden fees. 1st instalment: Upfront payment. 2nd instalment: 30 days from checkout (purchase date + 30 days)
What does it mean when we say ShopBack PayLater is powered by hoolah?
ShopBack acquired hoolah in late 2021 and together, they now offer PayLater services on the ShopBack platform. hoolah provides the payment services (such as payment accounts and domestic money transfers), while ShopBack provides the user interface via the mobile app.

Activating PayLater on the ShopBack app means you’re agreeing to hoolah’s Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

What are the changes that I can expect if I have a ShopBack PayLater and hoolah account?
No worries! Your hoolah account will stay with hoolah while your ShopBack PayLater account stays with ShopBack. Just a note that you’ll not be able to use your hoolah account to make payments with ShopBack PayLater.

Any remaining hoolah orders will remain in your hoolah account. Outstanding hoolah payments will continue to be deducted from the card added to your hoolah account on the scheduled due dates.

You’ll be able to enjoy any ShopBack PayLater promotions as long as you’re a ShopBack member, and meet the terms and conditions set for ShopBack PayLater promotions.

The 2nd and 3rd instalments are automatically deducted from the user’s default card in their ShopBack account on the scheduled due date. Overdue payments are subjected to late payment charges.

With PayLater, there is 0% interest, no upfront costs, no fees and no hidden charges as long as you pay on time*! You only pay what you see on our website, and it works with both debit and credit cards. There may be late payment fees for overdue payments, so that people don’t abuse the service.

How do I sign up for ShopBack PayLater?
If you’re a new ShopBack user, you’ll need to register for a ShopBack account first. Once this is up, head to your home screen, select “Interest-Free PayLater”, click on “Activate”, and follow the guide through the process.

In line with the regulatory requirements for using ShopBack PayLater, they’ll need you to share the following information when you register:

• A Singapore NRIC or FIN number

• A mobile number issued with a Singapore prefix (+65)

• A valid email address

• Credit card/debit card issued by a financial institution

You need to be at least 18 years of age to use ShopBack PayLater.

By sharing your details, this will allow ShopBack PayLater to assess if your transaction can be supported by them.

Identification of users — to ensure that ShopBack PayLater identify the correct users, they require a front and back photo of your NRIC at sign up or you can set up your account using the MyInfo (Singpass) function

Fraud prevention — ShopBack PayLater wants to ensure that all of you have a secured in-app checkout, to prevent any misuse of identity or funds

At ShopBack, they take your privacy and data security very seriously. Their Privacy Policy explains how they may collect, use, disclose and safeguard any personal data you provide to them.

Can I use my ShopBack PayLater account in another country?
No, ShopBack PayLater don’t support cross-border app usage. What you could do is register a separate account in 1 other country where ShopBack is available. This means that for each user, you can only use ShopBack PayLater in up to 1 other country, once you’ve registered and activated ShopBack PayLater for that country.
What type of cards does ShopBack PayLater accept?
Any Singapore-issued Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards will be accepted. Prepaid cards and e-wallets (DBS Paylah, GrabPay & etc) are not accepted for ShopBack PayLater.
Is there a limit to how much I can spend?
To ensure responsible spending, there’ll be a limit on the amount you can spend. This varies for each individual and is calculated by ShopBack PayLater’s system dynamically. You may view your spending limit from your ShopBack account on the mobile app under “Available to Spend” section.

Do I need to place a deposit to use the service?
No, you do not have to place a deposit with ShopBack PayLater to use their service.

  2. Once you’ve selected your item and would like to proceed to check out, select ShopBack PayLater as your payment option and you’lll be redirected to a ShopBack PayLater payment page with a QR code.
  3. On your phone, open the ShopBack app and click “Scan & Pay”.
  4. Scan the QR code using your ShopBack app.
  5. You’ll see a breakdown of the payment.
  6. Confirm your payment by proceeding to “Swipe to Pay”!

Online checkout (Using mobile web)

In-Store checkout (Using ShopBack app)

  1. If you’re using ShopBack PayLater for your in-store purchase, you may use the “Scan & Pay” function in the ShopBack app to pay for your purchase.
  2. Scan the QR code standee, located at the cashier.
  3. A breakdown of your PayLater details will be shown on your screen.
  4. After confirming the amount and breakdown, proceed to “Swipe to Pay”.
  5. A successful payment page will show on your screen!
How can I make payments for my instalments?

The outstanding instalments will be auto-deducted from the default card set in your ShopBack account based on the following schedule:

1st instalment: Upfront payment

2nd instalment: 30 days from checkout (purchase date + 30 days)

3rd instalment: 60 days from checkout (purchase date + 60 days)

Why do I get an error when making a payment?

There could be multiple reasons why your order wasn’t successful. In most cases, it’s due to an expired card or insufficient funds in the account. For details on how you can update your card, read on ShopBack PayLater step-by-step guide – alternative payment method

If you’re facing an error while using your debit card, it could be because your card is not enabled for e-commerce transactions. For this instance, please reach out to your respective bank to enable your debit card.

If you’re hoping to make an early repayment, please note that ShopBack PayLater do not support this feature at the moment. Payments will automatically be deducted based on your payment schedule for each individual ShopBack PayLater transaction.
